The SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering (JIE) was established by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as a collaboration to nurture a passionate and collaborative global community and network of students, faculty and professionals working toward advancing the field of engineering through education and research in China and the world.

JIE is hiring more talents for its ECE program. Finally the ECE program will have more than 40 professors. Our faculty recruiting process is identical to that of the ECE department at CMU. Each hired faculty member will spend his/her first year at CMU to establish and/or to consolidate a strong collaboration with CMU faculty, and to develop a better understanding of CMU’s curriculum and teaching model.

In addition, CMU faculty will come to SYSU to teach JIE students in person. They will also give lectures to JIE students through JIE’s long-distance education system.
